Daar…

Reis veilig my meisiekind…

    1. Dankie Abrie.
Ek is eintlik nie baie avontuurlustig nie.

  1. Vriendin, ek lees, my oë dof, my wange nat want my lief meisiekind ook mos vêr. Ek verlang so na haar. Wil haar teen my bors vasdruk, in haar oe kyk.

Ek gun my kind dit.

So ons kan nie kla nie.

      1. I thought it could be your daughter. The “translation” was awful. But I can relate. For one year, we had one daughter in England and the other in New York. Then they both came back. Until… that terrible day, and daughter #2 left for Asia. That’s why we all went. To see her. And bring her back. 🙂 Wanderlust is a difficult thing for others. I hope you can skype or equivalent. I know the bush is no substitute but at least it takes one’s mind away. Any plans for this week-end?

        1. The times we live in…travel, travel😄
We are actually packing this weekend to travel to Namibia, through Botswana. It is a two day trip that we do twice a year, because we have a home in Namibia as well….when things go wrong this side…sadly looks like it’s happening.

        2. Well, good to have a home in Namibia. I always heard it was quite beautiful. 🙂 That’s always an option. (I also keep a place in Paris… just in case…) 😉
Have a nice trip to Namibia.

        3. We travelled on the Transkalahari Highway…goes right through from Pretoria through Botswana to Windhoek in Namibia. Nice tarred road, no problems…just hundreds of animals all over.

        4. Transklahari? Wow. Reminded me one of my cousins worked forever at Much Asphalt. He may be responsible for that tar. Any complaint I will pass along. The nice thing is that the wildlife is “respected”? In Tanzania they want to build a highway across Serengeti which would cut the great annual migration to Maasaï Mara.

        5. Sounds really nice. The key factor is… people. Are they at peace? Or not? To be honest I’ve come to dislike Mexico because of its violence. Over 20,000 homicides a year goes beyond my tolerance level.
          Enjoy Swakop. Tot ziens Dina

        6. Well, GDP per capita (PPP adjusted for purchasing power) is not bad for an African country, around 10,000 dollars a year. Most African countries hover between 1,000 and 2,000 dollars…

        7. What saves this country is the fact that the population is still low. But I am telling you, I have seen for the past ten years, how it is growing. More and more shacks are shooting up around the towns and theft and crime are also increasing. Last week our house has been broken into for the third time and laptops were stolen. This is the major sports in Namibia…stealing tourists laptops and cameras.

        8. A low population is a “mechanical” way to elevate GDP per capita. And I believe you: violence is growing in Africa. And empty houses must be tempting. Sorry about the laptops. One of the reasons I don’t want a “country” or week-end house here is just that. There are very nice places an hour away, but you get burglarized every so often… 😦

        9. Luckily it wasn’t our laptops, but guests’s, who stayed here. They were negligent and did not put it in the safe and they also didn’t activate the ouside alarm. The thieves dashed inside the house after breaking a window and was in and out in two minutes with the inside alarm screaming. It can all be seen on camera!!

        10. The house is quite equipped. But you are right: in certain places, don’t tempt the thieves. Like here: don’t leave your laptop on the car seat in plain view. Tsss.
(One of the solutions here is that most houses have bars on the first floor at least.)
