  1. Oh Dina, I studied each one of your exquisite photos. These are birds I spent hours and weeks admiring and seeking in Africa. I recognize some as African, and others I am not as familiar with the exact species, but the family is familiar. Great to see the two roller species side-by-side. And wonderful to see each bird. The Lanner Falcon with prey is spectacular, what an eye that raptor has! And the Tawny Eagle is one I saw in the wild, but it was so far away it was the size of a thumb. And I’ve always loved the Marabou, such an awkward and huge bird. Thanks for this avian delight today.

  2. I am so glad that you enjoyed this, Jet. The interesting thing about the Tawny Eagle is that the juvenile looks completely different from an adult. The same goes for most raptors and makes it sometimes extremely hard to identify them. I battle with it, but I am getting there…slowly, slowly!

    1. Lyk nogal soos ‘n tronkpakkie!

    1. Ons lag altyd so as die Engelse daardie naam probeer sê.

Party mense raak heeltemal obsessief daarmee.

  3. I love birds of prey. There are many Yellow-billed Kites and occasionally Tawny Eagles around Durban and sometimes I see them dive downwards and scoop an unsuspecting lizard to rodent from the road. They also raid the doves and other birds nests of eggs and nestlings. Great photos. Birds are very difficult to photograph.

Baie mooi.
