Vrolike voëls..

Die bos wemel van die voëls. Die laat reëns veroorsaak dat daar steeds groot bedrywigheid in die riete plaasvind en die mannetjies spog met hul pragtige broeidrag. Rooivink (Southern Red Bishop) sing uit volle bors…_MG_6109

Balanseer op ‘n grassie…_MG_5427

en kry uiteindelik ‘n paar saadjies afgestroop met sy bekkie…IMG_1905

By die Bontrugwewer-kolonie (Village Weaver), is dit ‘n bedrywigheid van ‘n ander aard. Dit kwetter en raas en bou en fladder…maak mens skoon moeg om daarna te kyk…_MG_6062

Die mannetjies wedywer wie die meeste en mooiste nessies kan bou…_MG_6073

Dit vind plaas in die ongemaklikste posisies denkbaar…_MG_6089

Ou pragtige Saalbekooievaar (Saddle-billed Stork) bring rustigheid en vrede na die lawaai in die vinkdorp…_MG_5835

  1. Dina, dis pragtige fotos. Die Kormorante hier langs die dam broei ook op die oomblik. En die bekende Kormorant kolonie is skuins voor ons. Ek wens jy kan dit sien! Die massiewe boom is spierwit oortrek van hul mis en dis neste net waar jy kyk. Dit gons heeldag! Heelwat kuikens is reeds uitgebroei, ons sien die spulletjie so mooi van die balkon af. Bertus se kamera is ongelukkig nie sterk genoeg vir goeie fotos nie, maar ek gaan tog probeer en vir jou stuur.

  10. Such amazing birds! I love the Weavers and their nests. Your photos are so good! And it’s bizarre that a stork with such strange coloring could look peaceful, but it really does. It has a very beneficent expression. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a photo of that particular stork – amazing.

    1. The saddle-billed stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis) is a large wading bird in the stork family, Ciconiidae. It is a widespread species which is a resident breeder in sub-Saharan Africa from Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya south to South Africa, and in The Gambia, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Chad in west Africa.(Wikipedia)
      Quite a beautiful bird to see.

    1. Ek persoonlik dink dat voëls slim genoeg is om nie te broei as daar nie genoeg kos is nie. Met die laat reëns was daar skielik baie insekte en dit het heel waarskynlik tot gevolg dat die broeiery toegeneem het. Dis amper soos die Impalageboortes, wat teruggehou word, totdat daar genoeg gras is.

      1. Pleasure, Dina. 🙂 Hope all is well with you? I thought about you the other day. Daughter #1, the Doctor, applied for a job in Médecins sans frontières in Paris!!! She said she and her husband were concerned about the growing insecurity… Sounds familiar. Finally the job didn’t come through, but I was already making calculations as to whether we could still afford to live in Paris!

        1. Everything is fine with me. I just went offline because we went to Namibia for two weeks. I hope your plans work out, but it seems worldwide there are problems…too rich, too poor, too much crime etc. In the end we have to create our own hapiness.

          Yes, there are problems everywhere. In Europe it seems many are now carrying a knife everywhere. In the Tube, on the street. You can be stabbed for a bad look. Tsss.
          But still, I look forward to my six weeks in Paris this summer. (I’ll try to avoid stabbers!) 😉

        4. Haha! My son-in-law was held at gun-point at a red light going home around 6PM a few weeks ago. With a police car a few hundred yards away… Wallet, watch, phone… and a big fright.

        5. That is so terrible, same scenario here on a regular basis! Here they shoot you after taking your car and belongings. At some traffic lights there are signs put up, saying “Highjack Hotspot”. Hell, where is the logic in that? If it is a hotspot it should be patrolled 24/7 and the culprits could be easily cought!
