    1. Baie dankie dat jy alles gelees het. Hierdie gesinnetjie lê my na aan die hart en voel soos deel van my familie. Gogo is my huishulp en ‘n fantastiese mensie.

  1. Dit doen my hart goed as ek van sulke kindertjies hoor of lees.

      1. Ek weet, dis so hartseer. My tuinhelper was n kind in st sewe toe hy in my tuin gehelp het.

    1. The story is about my domestic worker’s grandson. Her son was the father and nobody knew until the day he was born.He came as a surprise. The mother was still in school and then the baby was looked after by my domestic worker. The other side of the family was just interested in money, which they called “damages”.Eventually the poor child ended up with his other grandma, who ran a shebeen(bar). He was totally neglected for two years and in a bad state of filth and psychological damage.Luckily his mother saw the situation and stole him at night and brought him to his Gogo(grandmother) .This is the story of thousands of South African children.Usually the grandmothers end up sitting with the unwanted chidren and the fathers are nowhere to be seen. In this case, Gogo’s son took responsibility, but it fell on his mum’s shoulders to bring up his kid.The mother is also absent and she pitches up now and then, to see the poor boy. Gogo is the sole provider for a family of six.The father of her own four chidren never paid a cent for any of them and was never a father in any way. They haven’t ever met him. She brought them up singlehandedly in terrible circumstances…again, the story of millions here.

      1. Well, I am sorry, and at this point, at least in these photos, he looks like he gets some love, and he appears happy and healthy in spite of what happened. I am aware of how this kind of thing happens so much, but not in a personal way – it has not touched me as closely as you. Here in the US of course it happens too, there are many, many grandmothers raising children, but usually it is not such an extreme situation. It’s very hard when you have such a huge problem that is so complex, and affects so many people in a really fundamental way. Thanks for explaining, I appreciate it.

        1. In my article I gave the news that he is doing well and that he is very happy. His grandmother is only 45 and she is such a wonderful lady. I give her a lot of support. They are my family that I care for.
